Our Love Was on the Wing – Jim\u00a0Healy & Mizpah\u00a0Closkey<\/p><\/div>\n

At Nextra Chermside Newsagency, we endeavour to support our local community and share their creative successes with our wonderful customers. Today we\u00a0are proud to announce our store at Westfield Chermside will stock\u00a0Our Love Was on the Wing\u00a0<\/em>by Nudgee author Regis Hickey.<\/p>\n

Regis Hickey, the principal author of\u00a0Our Love Was on the Wing <\/em>has taken the characters Michael and\u00a0Mary from\u00a0the famous Irish song The Fields<\/em>\u00a0of Athenry<\/em> and created a novel set in the\u00a0convict settlement of Sydney in\u00a0the early 1800s. While Regis has used the last three years to write the\u00a0novel he\u00a0had been\u00a0considering the idea for the past twenty. Currently he is\u00a0living in the retirement village of Viridian at Nudgee, Queensland. This is his first novel.<\/p>\n

Mary Murphy, the contributing author is currently teaching at Unity\u00a0College, Caloundra. Mary would say her role was an advisory one\u00a0and\u00a0Regis was the principal author.<\/p>\n

The pseudonyms the author, Regis Hickey, and contributing author, Mary\u00a0Murphy, have used in Our\u00a0Love was on the Wing<\/em>\u00a0are those of their\u00a0grandparents, Jim\u00a0Healy and Mizpah Closkey.<\/p>\n

This novel successfully blends\u00a0both the historical and fiction so that\u00a0its readers will get insights into the personalities of authentic Governors\u00a0and early English settlers of Australia as well as possible characters that\u00a0could have\u00a0existed at that time. There’s romance, pathos, failure and\u00a0success with the heroes and the villains. You will think you have the plot\u00a0worked out only to find out you have not: and finally when you have read\u00a0the last sentence\u00a0you will want to thank both Regis and Mary for having given you a most enjoyable read.<\/p>\n

It is the type of novel that film directors and TV Mini-series producers are\u00a0looking for as Australians are becoming more and more interested in their\u00a0past. Make sure you read it before you see it. An ideal Christmas present\u00a0and holiday read.<\/p>\n
