Roundup of Million Paws Walk

Congratulations to Team Elly who won the Nextra Chermside Newsagency ‘Top Fundraiser’ award for 2014! They were recognised as the No. 1 fundraiser in Queensland as well as No. 2 in Australia with a total of $5,410 donated to the charity. Well done and thank you to all who participated and supported the RSPCA’s exceptional work this year.

We would like to share the heartfelt message Team Elly sent to our staff here at Nextra Chermside Newsagency:

Thank you so much for your support of this deserving cause; we really felt special winning your cups for the last 3 years and they have always been exhibited at our victory BBQ after the event! Your cups go to their position in the pride of place in my office: on top of my book shelf. I feel really encouraged that businesses like yours and those who supported our fundraising efforts still exist in our community.

  • $30 provides shelter and care for a neglected dog?
  • $50 helps to provide heating for a kennel during the cold winter months?

RSPCA Million Paws Walk – Nundah 2014

Nextra Chermside Newsagency continues to sponsor the RSPCA’s Million Paws Walk in Nundah in 2014. Join us and our canine companions in an effort to raise money for the invaluable work conducted by the RSPCA.

Taking part in the Million Paws Walk is a great way to help animals in need. Money raised through entry fees, the sale of merchandise and online fundraising will help to fund their critical work in the community, including the care of more than 18,000 dogs entering our shelters each year.

Nextra Chermside Newsagency awards seven trophies to Nundah’s best participants in the following categories:

Did you know the suburb of Chermside was ranked in the top 10 postcodes for lottery wins? The following article was published on 15 January 2014 by the Bayside and Northern Suburbs Star (page 7):

CHERMSIDE AND ASPLEY AMONG LOTTO HOTSPOTS

Aspley and Chermside made the list of top 10 lotto hotspots across Queensland last year.

In the 12 months to December 1, 2013, Queensland players won 69 division one prizes across all lotto products from Golden Casket, equating to more than $65 million in division one prize money.

In the top 10 postcodes with most frequent division one wins across all lotto games, Chermside (4032) was ranked 5th with two wins totalling $2,806,218.20 (biggest win ($1,428,571.30) and Aspley (4034) was ranked 7th with two wins totalling $1,640,321.30 (biggest win $820,160.65).

In the top 10 postcodes with highest total prize money won across all games, Chermside ranked 4th and Aspley 10th.

The highest value prize won in Queensland during the year was a Saturday Gold Lotto Mid-Year Megadraw prize worth $2.5 million, with two winning tickets purchased in Springwood and Yamanto.

Golden Casket spokesperson Belinda McDougall said that although postcode 4870 was the ‘Lotto Hotspot’ and Brisbane and suburbs was the ‘Lotto Hotspot Region’ for Queensland, it did not mean that a ticket purchased in either of those areas had more chance of winning than any other ticket.

“It’s exciting to reveal where the most lotto wins occur each year, but it’s important to remember that every number on your ticket has an equal chance of being drawn, no matter where you buy your ticket,” Ms McDougall said.

One hundred Golden Casket Retailers across Queensland took part in the You Could Go to Venice Instant Scratch-Its promotion which ran from Monday 28 October through to Sunday 24 November 2013.

Anyone who purchased three Instant Scratch-Its $3 Live the Life Venice tickets in one transaction from a participating Outlet received an entry form into the draw.

The excited winner said she had four entries in the promotion after purchasing her Instant Scratch- Its $3 Live the Life tickets at Nextra Chermside Newsagency, Shop 384/385 in Westfield Chermside, Gympie Road, Chermside.

“I keep going back to Nextra Chermside because the staff are so lovely, polite and courteous,” the winner added.
