Australian Newsagent of the Year 2012

Yesterday evening at the Park Hyatt, Melbourne, Nextra Chermside Newsagency was awarded the esteemed title of Australian Newsagent of the Year. In addition to the state and national recognition by the Australian Newsagents’ Federation, this is the second time the team at Chermside has won the prestigious award by ACP Magazines in as many years.

On the night, Store Manager, Shannon Hickey, expressed that he is “so proud of our enthusiastic team who work closely with our suppliers to offer excellent products and unrivalled customer service to our community”.

Congratulations to the other finalists and on behalf of all contestants in the competition, we thank ACP Magazines for supporting the Australian newsagency industry.

Last week proved to be an exciting and rewarding time for our customers with many lotto and Instant Scratch-Its prizes being won. Some of the most notable wins were recorded in the Powerball and Saturday Gold Lotto – in fact, our stores sold three Second-Division entries!

Ryder’s Broken Heart

Ryder Cooper Withers was born on 2 June 2011. He was born with a Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) and a condition known as Tetralogy of Fallot (ToF).

The team at Nextra Chermside Newsagency became aware of Ryder’s condition when his mother and grandmother came into our shop to get some helium balloons blown up for his first birthday. Since then, we have been actively following his progress and hope young Ryder will be able to visit us at Westfield Chermside in the near future.

In order to support Heartkids QLD, Ryder’s mother and father have organised a charity auction to support the organisation.

Date: Saturday 11 August 2012
Time: 12 noon – 3pm
Venue: Wilston-Grange AFC (35 Babarra St, Stafford)
